Hi, I’m Courtney Flores and I am a Costume Designer born and raised in San Leandro, California, a city right in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area.
I have been designing costumes for theatre for sixteen years and have been blessed to work on some amazing productions, that have truly inspired me as an artist and as a person, to make the world a better place.
I believe in the art of collaboration with my other fellow theatre designers and artists. I find myself inspired by sharing ideas and creating a world together, rather than alone.
Through my work I have also become a Co-Founding Member of Bay Area Latino Theatre Artists Network. I also served for three years as a member of the Latinx Theatre Commons and have since transitioned to the Latinx Theatre Commons Advisory Committee.
In addition, I also co-developed with Scenic Designer, Regina Garcia, an online journal series on Howlround, called La Esquinita, which profiled Latina/o Theatre Designers and Technicians. I served as Lead Curator for this particular journal.
I am currently an Adjunct Lecturer at California State University East Bay, my alma mater for my undergrad studies. I currently teach classes in Costume Design as well as beginning theater lecture courses in their Theatre and Dance Department.
